Mission

Our mission is to amplify the power of low-income Chicago residents to preserve, improve, and expand subsidized rental housing and promote community stabilization.

History/General Information:

The Chicago Housing Initiative was founded in 2007 and  is an alliance of low-income tenants and allies who are organizing through ten community-based organizations and over 60 HUD properties in the Chicago area. Together the organization and residents alike fight to expand access to high quality affordable housing, prevent displacement and stabilize communities, and advance racial and economic equity and inclusion across Chicago.
