Master of Arts Degree in Community and Teacher Leaders Graduate Studies
M.A. in Community and Teacher Leaders (only 10 courses)
Teacher Leader Concentration: This option provides knowledge and skills related to leadership, peer mentoring and professional development; promotes positive school culture that focuses on achievement; highlights equity as a means of empowerment, uses data to improve educational outcomes; and promotes building collaborative relationships with communities. Focusing on social justice and the strengths of diversity, this concentration leads to a Master’s Degree and the ISBE recognized Teacher Leader Endorsement. Course instruction occurs in class, hybrid and/or remotely typically one day a week. Adjustments to instruction will occur as necessary due to COVID 19
Teacher Leader Endorsement (Endorsement Only Option) (only 5 courses)
This option offers professional development for teachers who already have a MA to prepare them for increased leadership opportunities by earning the ISBE recognized Teacher Leader Endorsement. This is not the principal endorsement program.
When 10 or more CTU members enroll, registration fees are waived and tuition is reduced to only $1000 per course. This is a discount of 40% from regular tuition. Earn your entire Master’s Degree at NEIU for only $10,000!
Cooperating teachers who have tuition credit for hosting NEIU student teachers can apply the course credit to tuition. This course credit can be transferred for any teacher to use.

Earn Your ESL/Bilingual Endorsement in 2 Semesters
Begins JANUARY 2021
To better serve Chicago’s diverse student population, Roosevelt University is partnering with the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation to recruit teachers to join a new cohort working toward Bilingual and ESL endorsements. This new cohort will complete the course requirements for ESL and Bilingual endorsements in only two semesters.
The endorsement coursework will be delivered in the following manner:
- Winter 2021 | Jan. – May | READ 468 (January – March 2021) & READ 475 (March – May 2021) (ONLINE)
- Summer 2021 – Face-to-Face – one-week intensives: Delivery dates and times are subject to change.
- READ 458 (July 12 -16) READ 473 (July 19 – July 23) READ 474 (July 26 – July 30)
- The Winter 2021 courses will be online and will begin January 19, 2021.
- The three Summer 2021 courses will be delivered in one-week intensive formats. All summer classes meet face-to-face, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., * at Roosevelt University, 430 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605
- * Delivery subject to change.
A MANDATORY pre-session video is required before the summer courses begin.
- Cohort students pay only $1,209 for each course – this is $403 per credit hour!
NOTE: The Illinois State Board of Education requires 100 clinical hours in Bilingual or ESL settings.
