Bilingual – ESL Summer Conference
This 4-day, 18-ISBE PD Hours Credit conference for Bilingual and English as a Second Language teachers PreK through 12th grade is a teacher-led, strategy and technique filled program to enhance your language acquisition instruction. In addition, the Office of Language and Culture will provide a 1-hour panel each morning covering administrative requirements, address WIDA and ACCESS questions, as well as other topics. Participants will attend the morning whole-group panel with OLCE as well as one 3-hour PD session each day. The 4 sessions are: developing and strengthening language learning objectives using WIDA; authentic assessment of language learners; understanding and implementing best practice strategies and techniques aligned to the CPS Framework for Teaching, and understanding teacher evaluation through the lens of language acquisition. Participants will be required to attend every day of the conference in order to receive credit, and no partial credit will be awarded to late arrivals or early departures. Participants will be randomly assigned a session to attend each day and will receive their schedule prior to arrival on the first day of the conference. This offering is aligned to the CPS Framework for Teaching Domains 1, 2, 3, and 4.
