Schlechty Center
Digital Engagement Series
The CTUF Quest Center and the Schlechty Center have partnered to broaden the PD offerings that are available to CTU members. Our partnership actually goes back many years in terms of the work we have both done individually and collectively for AFT at their TEACH conferences as well the work we have done with the United Federation of Teachers – by way of their Annual Center for School Improvement Leadership Institute that takes place in New York, New York. This particular partnership between the Quest Center and the Schlechty Center focuses on a Digital Engagement Series. These offerings can be bought by individual teachers and/or the schools themselves. We recommend that CTU members ask their respective school principals about purchasing the series for the entire school. However, you certainly can register for the PDs yourself. See more details about the Digital Engagement Series below.
The Schlechty Center is offering a new toolkit to support educators. The Digital Engagement Series is a set of online modules that can provide a lifeline to teachers who are tasked with engaging students both in-person and online. Nearly 1000 teachers are currently registered and are finding it to be a valuable resource, not only for this uncertain start to school but also as a supportive professional learning network throughout the school year.
You can find out everything you need to know about the Digital Engagement Series here, including a video walkthrough, free introductory course, and webinar registration dates.
Our digital engagement series is a set of eight self-paced online modules. The topics include relationship building, social and emotional learning, equity, student voice, communication, digital tools, and more. While working through the modules, participants engage with content, teacher examples, resources, and tech-infused activities. Individual and collaborative activities aid teachers in designing lesson components for their students to use this school year and provide teachers opportunities to reflect on their learning. At the end of the module, teachers receive a certificate of completion and are encouraged to share the work they designed throughout the module.
Whether you are beginning school virtually or just want to prepare yourself for maximum flexibility, the Digital Engagement Series provides timely professional learning to teachers, substitutes, and school staff looking to use digital tools to increase engagement and student learning. This resource will be useful to teachers all year long as they confront new challenges.
